With Love, Blackie
Thu Feb 14, 2008 at 08:42:45 PM PDT
Hi Everyone! My mom and dad told me today was Valentine's Day. They said this is a day where you are supposed to tell the ones that you love how much you do love them. They also told me about the love you showed me when I had my surgery and while I was recuperating. It was a tough time for me as I almost did not make it. It was very scary and my mom and dad were very worried for me.
I made it through that tough time and continue to recover. I know that it was because of the love you sent my way. My mom and day told me about the prayers, chants, pictures and healing mojo you were sending. They appreciated it too.

Hi everyone! Sorry that it has been such a long time since our last diary on Blackie's progress but things have been quiet on her journey to recovery. In other words, no news is great news! For those who are members of the Daily Kos chapter of her fan club we know that you have been patiently waiting for any news.
What makes this update even more special is that it has been one month since her surgery. We want to share with everyone the progress that she is making.

Update: Blackie: A Pootie's Tale, Part 6
Wed Jan 02, 2008 at 08:17:48 PM PDT
Hi Everyone! This is just a short update on Blackie's progress. Before we do that we want to say that we are very pleased that BlackSheep1 nominated Rolfyboy6's comment for a top comment yesterday. To our surprise the comment was mentioned. We want to thank brillig for including it. We are quoting the nomination here in case you missed it.
From BlackSheep1:
Rolfyboy6's comment in sable's diary Blackie: A Pootie's Tale, Happy New Year to Everyone is absolutely dead-on about the state of writers in the candidate diary frenzy (if you read down thread a bit more hilarious reactions occur).
The original comment was made downthread on yesterday's update and New Year's wishes from Blackie.

Blackie: A Pootie's Tale, Happy New Year To Everyone!
Tue Jan 01, 2008 at 09:21:15 AM PDT
Hi Everyone. We were able to get a chance to catch our collective breaths. We also want to take the opportunity to send our warmest "thanks" to each member of the Kossack community for the love and support you have shown our wonderful pootie. As you are all aware, the past few days have been stressful.
Last week, we were sure that Blackie would not make it. Her prognosis was poor. To everyone who has lost a pet, you know how devastating this is. Adding to our anxiety was the self-doubt that we had. We questioned ourselves as to whether this was the right decision to bring her home where she could recuperate surrounded by love and in her familiar surroundings. We hoped that it was.
The main worry for us was that the chyle fluid would continue to flow into her lungs and that it would not slow down.

Follow Blackie on her journey.
Update: Blackie: A Pootie's Tale, Part 4
Sat Dec 29, 2007 at 07:27:39 PM PDT
Hi everyone. Once again we must apologize for being late with the update on Blackie. However, we spent the night with her and we wanted to wait until a good twety-four hours had passed. As you can imagine this has been an ordeal that we do not wish for any fur-person or their parents to go through.
For those of you that are new to Blackie's tale, her story and progress have been diaried here, here, and here. For those of you that are members of the "Daily Kos Chapter" of her fan club, the support and healing mojo that has been sent her way has been incredible. We can't begin to thank you enough.
We do have some news to report about her progress and we are hopeful that maybe she has begun to turn the corner.

Update 4: Blackie: A Pootie's Tail, Part 3
Tue Dec 25, 2007 at 09:35:15 AM PDT
Hi everyone. Sorry that there was not an update yesterday or last night. Events were moving rather quickly and we had decisions to make. First of all we want to say a special thank you to the charter members of the "Blackie Fan Club". The love and support you have shown for our pootie has been truly remarkable. Ir has been a great comfort and has bought smiles to our faces during this horrible time.
For those of you who may have been busy with holiday preparations, Blackie's saga has been diaried here and here. It has been an emotional time for both of us. For her dad, it has been even harder because Blackie is a "daddy's girl". However, Blackie is the one who has had the hardest time of all because she is the one who had to undergo the operation last Thursday.

Follow me for more of Blackie's progess.
Update 2: Blackie: A Pootie's Tale, Part 2
Sat Dec 22, 2007 at 09:37:18 PM PDT
This is a short diary to let everyone know how Blackie is doing. Her tale is diaried here. We just arrived home. We spent a lot of time with Blackie. Her blood pressure is up. Normal BP for a pootie is 100 and yesterday morning hers was 60 and she had a very low temperature. Today her blood pressure and temperature were normal. She is on an IV and is getting lots of pain medication, antibiotics and medicine to stabilize her BP. They were able to remove the BP cuff along with one of her IV's. The concern at this point is her red blood cell count which is still at the low end. Luckily for her the clinic was able to find more blood in her blood type.

Update 4: Blackie: A Pootie's Tale
Thu Dec 20, 2007 at 08:38:28 AM PDT
Hi everyone! My name is Blackie and I am sable's pootie. My mom rescued me out of a tree when I was four weeks old and I have lived with my mom and dad for the last three years. I slept on the bed with them and sometimes I would curl up and sleep on top of my mom or dad. I still do that and when they know I am there and pet me, I purr.
I also had a job to do. When my dad had to get up early to go to work it was my job to make sure he heard the alarm. Sometimes I had to nip my mom on the head to make sure someone heard the alarm. Life for me was extremely good.

Until last June, I had a pretty easy life. Follow me for my tale.
