Daily Kos

Another one bites the dust ($@!*% edition)

I've decided to swear-off Candidate Diaries. I regret this since it's a decision to disengage from important political dialogue in an historic election and an admission of my own failure. However, I don't see what good I've accomplished by participating, so I'll seek another way.

I'd like to say why I joined Kos and why I'll stay, but refrain from the partisan battles. Another sad tale bright sky after the fold.

Building bridges under dark clouds 'R' us

I joined Kos on the advice of a good friend and member who's going to (correctly) chastise me when he/she/it (keep wondering!) reads this. The reason was, after watching the Bush Administration lead the USA down the wrong path so far, I could no longer hold my peace and felt motivated to do something about it. It really pained me to see such a good country fall so far so fast.

From my first day here, I felt sure this was an answer. I found here a real community of people from diverse backgrounds sharing their knowledge, thoughts, friendship and support. Exactly what a good community should be. And, I should add, some very productive and enlightening arguments; valuable arguments.

Now, I'm as guilty as anyone, getting seduced in the wrong direction for the wrong reasons, because "I'm right". It's nonsense. It's a waste of time.

Perhaps I'm not good at this. I live in a culture politeness rules up to the threshold of blood feud and I notice that danger signs in myself. No good can come of this, so it's time to change direction.

I owe a debt to this community for giving me more than I have returned. I hope to repay that by focusing more on subjects and issues where I can contribute something of value to the discussion, so I'll use the time saved to write more Diaries I have planned and cast that bread upon the waters.

Thank you friends. See you there.
